Addis Ababa, Ethiopia – Ethiopian Airport Enterprise has announced the successful completion of a major construction project by SABA Engineering.

The project, which began in 2015, involved the construction supervision and contract administration of a double-layered asphalt concrete runway spanning 3.2 kilometers, a taxiway, and apron. The project also included the construction of 4.7 kilometers of asphalt concrete access road, with a volume equivalent to approximately 60-65 kilometers of road.

SABA Engineering played a vital role in the completion of the project, with responsibilities including the issuance of provisional and final acceptance certificates, preparation of completion reports, supervision of maintenance activities during defect liability period, and inspection of construction activities. The team also analyzed resources and approved or rejected proposals accordingly, reviewed the contractor’s proposed work program and associated work method statement.

This major infrastructure development project was a significant achievement for the Ethiopian Airport Enterprise, demonstrating their commitment to improving the country’s transportation infrastructure. SABA Engineering’s expertise in construction supervision and contract administration played a critical role in the success of this project, ensuring that the runway, taxiway, apron, and access road were completed to the highest standards.
