Undertaken by SABA Engineering, the redevelopment of Kitgum Main Market as part of the Markets and Agricultural Trade Improvement Program-Project (MATIP-2) was a comprehensive endeavor encompassing architectural and engineering services across design and construction supervision phases.

Phase I – Detail Design

  • Conducted a meticulous topographic survey utilizing advanced total station survey equipment.
  • Produced preliminary architectural design plans.
  • Executed soil testing and provided essential foundation recommendations.
  • Developed detailed structural designs.
  • Conducted an in-depth Environmental and Social Impact Assessment Study.
  • Generated comprehensive architectural working drawings.
  • Prepared sanitary and electrical design specifications.
  • Created the bill of quantity and meticulously handled tender document preparation.

Phase II – Construction Supervision

  • SABA Engineering provided expert guidance to contractors by interpreting design drawings and specifications, advising on optimal work methods.
  • Reviewed and analyzed the proposed work programs and method statements of contractors, conducting resource analysis for approval or rejection.
  • Supervised construction activities, ensuring strict adherence to established plans and specifications.
  • Maintained meticulous records of equipment, contract drawings, and daily/weekly logs of construction activities by the Resident Engineer and inspector.
  • Verified, certified, and approved monthly payment certificates submitted by the contractor.
  • Generated and submitted regular reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual) detailing equipment, material, and labor concerns.
  • Issued provisional and final acceptance certificates in accordance with project milestones.
  • Compiled and prepared the comprehensive completion report.
  • Provided oversight during the defect liability period, supervising maintenance activities for optimal project performance post-construction.
